Shaun Cooney was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. After receiving his BA from Bowdoin College in Government and History, he went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in medieval European History from Arizona State University, completing his postgraduate coursework at Cambridge. He is an award winning filmmaker and has worked as an actor, an illustrator, a muralist, and a teacher.
